It is also the only Hawaiian island with navigable rivers. Hanapepe Town, west of Koloa, is known as a center of the art scene in Kaua’i and has more art galleries than any other community on the island. In addition to natural beauty and relatively calm waters, Poipu is frequented by a wide variety of marine life, including humpback whales, green sea turtles, and endangered Hawaiian monk seals.
Check out the ‘Hanapepe Swinging Bridge’ as well as the galleries, shops, and restaurants, especially during Friday evening’s Art Night. Beyond the canyon lies beautiful Kokee State Park, a realm of lofty cliffs adorned with the emerald splendors of native forests. This is also the place to come for ukulele concerts, held at the Hanalei Community Center.
A typical 60-minute helicopter tour of Kauai usually costs between $200 to $300 per person, with discounts available during off-peak seasons. Regis Princeville Resort

Kauai Grill provides the magnificent backdrop for the inspiration of Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s French and Asian influenced cuisine.
Another cool thing that sets this apart from other gay beaches? Further along you’ll come to the high-end resort town of Princeville, and then Hanalei Town, where you’ll find art galleries, shopping and dining, as well as the historic Waioli Mission House.
But, it still sees lots of gay travelers out enjoying the scenery. Nearby are shops, restaurants, resorts, and golf courses. This area has excellent dining options, recreational activities such as golfing, spa experiences, and beach relaxation opportunities, catering to a variety of interests.
For those looking for activities from shopping to culinary experiences, Poipu offers vibrant options such as RumFire Poipu Beach and the open-air retail experience at Kukui’ula Village Shopping Center.
