Shamrock Hotel ☆☆☆

A relaxed hotel with unassuming rooms in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood. We love the chic, white design palette and homely vibes; it is all very Scandinavian chic and offers a softer approach than the typically bold and over-the-top hotels in Hong Kong.

Hotel Indigo ☆☆☆☆

A sophisticated adults-only hotel with floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views of Wan Chai and plenty of small, thoughtful details.

Hobby groups, community classes, existing network connections, and volunteer groups are all excellent approaches to consider.

Sometimes, meeting new people feels hard, and doubly so when you’re gay in a world that still has a strong heterosexual bias. The temple is renowned for its serene ambiance and unique interior, where large coils of incense hang from the ceiling, filling the air with a fragrant, mystical aroma.

Stop by if your area, but with such a vibrant gay scene, there are much better places to go.

A popular gay club in Hong Kong that gets crazy on the weekend, and hosts fun bingo and karaoke during the week. The Eaton is likely the most LGBTQ+-friendly hotel in Hong Kong, hosting LGBTQ+ events throughout the year.

Budget

The Figo (formerly Hotel LBP) – A boutique hotel with affordable prices suitable for all budgets, near Sheung Wan and Sai Ying Pun MTR stations.

Day Trips from Hong Kong

Macau – A former Portuguese territory known for its casinos. It gets quite crowded on weekends and is open until 2 a.m.

Linq – A gay-friendly, bohemian bar in Lan Kwai Fong popular with the party crowd. Crazy adrenaline-pumping rides, relaxing aquariums, shows, and even a Panda if you want to ticket that off your Asia Bucket List!

Head to the Markets

Hong Kong is full of bizarre markets, many of which you will stumble upon all by yourself.

They’ll take no more than 45 minutes between the airport and Central and cost about US$5 or less.

Taxis are the most expensive option, and you have to choose the right color (red, blue, or green) depending on your location or destination. The lowest category rooms are basically shoeboxes (like many hotels here), but if you pay a bit more to upgrade, some rooms have huge windows on three sides.

Nearby popular spots include The Lounge & Bar at The Ritz-Carlton, Kowloon Park, and Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade.

Yesinn – Recently renovated and situated in a 25-story building in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon. Our favorites were bargaining in the Lady’s markets, or enjoying the birds, flowers and even Fish markets, which are oh-so-photogenic!

Island Kayaking in Sai Kung

Something a bit different, it turns out HK really does have some great untouched nature, and you can see it here on the coastline in the east of the New Territories.

They have hosts in more than 200 countries and territories with more than 1 million total listings. Although these can be options for making connections, more organic and low-pressure ways can offer better results. High-Ceilings, vintage Hong Kong decor and a hipster crowd, make this a chilled place to low-key hang.
